An idiot is a stupid person, someone who is low in intelligence according to Oxford Languages Online Dictionary. It is true that in the eyes of God some of us are fools. There are so many areas recorded in scriptures where the foolishness of mankind is picked and defined, not only by God but even by other people who were on the side of God. In this post I will focus on that which God says is foolish which happen to be a delight to demons.
God has no pleasure in fools (Ecclesiastes 5:4) yet demons delight in such people. It is clear that the two do not go along. If you please one, the other will not be happy. A few good examples of fools according to the Bible are explained in the following verses:
- In 1 Corinthians 1:18, the Bible says ‘For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God’;
- In Matthew 7:26, Jesus teaches that, ‘But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand’;
- In Psalm 14:1, the scripture define foolishness right from the heart of a person without manifested actions. This verse says that, ‘The fool says in his hear, “there is no God’;
There always are consequences of foolishness. They either manifest while we are alive, after death or in both instances. Unless a fool becomes wise and turn to God, he or she will further suffer the consequences of being foolish even after death.
The time in this life
According to Psalm 107:17, ‘Fools because of their transgression, and because of their iniquities, are afflicted’. Proverbs 18:8 says, ‘…a prating fool shall fall’. Proverbs 1:32, ‘…the prosperity of fools shall destroy them’.
The time after death
I want to dwell more on the time after death where a person’s will-power has been taken away. Ecclesiastes 8:8 says, ‘… that no one has power over the time of their death’. This is the time when all has been said and done, a time when each person is fully accountable of his or her actions (Romans 14:12). This is when what you heard from someone and applied it to your life does not count anymore but only that which you did. This is time where a person gives an account of what they did about the message of salvation and its requirements. Sadly, it is time of permanence and eternity. A time where death has been taken away yet it will be desired by the foolish. God will have swallowed up or abolished death (Isaiah 25:8). This means eternity takes effect and there is no escape.
At this point, the demons will celebrate ones idiocy and such idiocy will be manifested to the victim. That’s the time demons will mock the damned for neglecting the great salvation that is offered to mankind freely (Hebrews 2:3 – how shall we escape if we ignore so great a salvation? This salvation, which was first announced by the Lord, was confirmed to us by those who heard him). The demon’s mockery will be to some of the following people:
- The pastor, preacher, evangelist, bishop or prophet who did not live what he preached.
- Saints who preferred to listen to their pastors even when what such pastors preached was against the Word of God.
- The people of other religions who did not want to entertain the Christian message of salvation.
- The people who gained comfort in going to church but did not practice what the Bible teaches.
- The disobedient Christians who live a double standard life.
- The church leaders who do things or some things that should be known and approved by the congregation yet they chose to do it is privacy.
- The believers who were ashamed to stand for the truth when facing some influential people in the society.
- The marriage partner who was wayward.
- The people that invented new ways of committing sin.
- The people that spoke vain words.
Time wouldn’t allow for me to list the drunkards, murderers, fornicators, thieves, deceivers, hypocrites, oppressors, haters, those that live in anger, the selfish, the warmongers, cheats, gossipers, slanderers, gluttons, those that practice magic arts, the lovers of money, embezzlers, mediums, homosexuals, rapists, the unfaithful, those that don’t pay tithes, and many more.
The list is endless. If I were to continue listing I’d never exhaust the list. The best guide is the Holy Bible and the Holy Spirit who dwells among those who have chosen the way of Christ.
