How to relieve sexual pressure as a Christian

It is normal for a healthy person to feel sexual pressure and desire to fulfil that need. This is true for both males and females, married and not married, all races and ethnic groups. People are wired the same when it comes to sexuality. This makes sexuality a God given gift that comes naturally, which God expects all of us to handle with caution as we shall individually give an account about how we controlled it while in the earthly body.

The Bible is not silent about sexual purity. Sexual purity is a must for believers. Holiness is not an option but a must. There is no time a Christian ought not to be holy. There are many verses that all wind up to sexual purity as a requirement from believers.

To the Youth

To the youth, fornication is not an option. 1 Corinthians 6:18  says, ‘Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body’. 1 Thessalonians4:3 also says, ‘For this is the will of God, [even] your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:’ Galatians 5:19 lists fornication as a work of evil.

If you take sexual intercourse casual and deceive yourself to believe that it is not an issue because you and your partner have concerted, you are mistaken because God is not casual about it. You will be rejected for engaging in sex before marriage.

Masturbating is also not an option. There is a huge debate amongst Christian groups on masturbation. I want to submit to you that masturbation is sin and God does not want His own to practice it. I want to give you reasons for this:

  1. It is not God’s design of relieving sexual pressure. If you are a woman and not married, God expects you to have self-control, which is a fruit of the Holy Spirit that dwells amongst us. The same applies for unmarried males. However, God provided a way for males, which is called ‘wet dreams’. Wet dreams should not be influenced by your sexual fantasy thoughts but it should come naturally. If you struggle with this, pray to God for help.
  2. It disturbs the Spiritual position / purity before God. Whenever you masturbate, pleasure is a given but the guilt that comes afterwards makes the soul unclean. God always confirms that what you just did is not right. That is why when you pray to God after having masturbated, it always comes right in your face and you have to deal with it in prayer. Your internal desire is always to break free from this practice.
  3. Testimonies from hell mention it as one sin people have been damned for. The exam has been leaked. You don’t want to remain ignorant about the answers because you need them now. Jesus decided to break His parable promise not to let the dead come back to share the tales of the afterlife. When you read the parable of Lazarus and the rich man, you get to know that Jesus indicated that the brothers to the rich man should believe preachers that are in the world. Thanks be to God for having confirmed to us that in the last days, there will be visions and dreams to help many escape the trap of hell. Take time to search about this on the internet and you will know that God forbids masturbation. Youtube is the right place to start from.
  4. The thoughts that come with it are often unclean and lustful. Many people have confessed having feasted on evil thoughts, mainly sexual or even enhanced by pornographic material, when masturbating.

There could be many more reasons but one is good enough for you to stop doing it.

To the Married

Adultery is an offense to God.  Proverbs 6:32 says, ‘[But] whoso committeth adultery with a woman lacketh understanding: he [that] doeth it destroyeth his own soul’. When we look at Hebrews 13:4,Marriage [is] honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge’. Clearly, God commands that the marriage bed be not defiled.

Masturbation is also not an option for the married, even if it means that your partner stimulates you. I know this could be an option used by many couples that are lazy to fulfill the rightful sexual mandate to one another. Women are likely culprits when they want to avoid penetrative sex. It is true that males will quickly respond to sexual stimulation and probably reach climax in no time after which the pressure to go all the way falls off.

The same reasons given above apply even for the married. The males may also get thoughts wondering on other woman when in fact they are with their wives.

Adult toys

Adult toys are as good as masturbating enhancers. It is not an option for the believer to use adult toys, even for the married. No one should be sexually stimulated by anything else but they matrimonial partner. This is why it is important for woman and man alike to dress up modestly so that they do not sexually disturb others.

Other groups

There is no other biblical group allowed to engage in sex other that the married. The lesbian, gay and those that have sex with animals are on the wrong.

The only option, thank God He provided a way, is to get married and have your own partner. Other than that, there is none. For the youth, males have ‘wet dreams’ as a solution but females should control themselves.

The author of sexuality is God. If it gives you challenges, report those to God. He is faithful and just to help you out. Life is about your relationship with God. Everyone is expected to keep clear from sin for no one knows that day when the Lord will come for His own.

I pray that God help us to take the sexual purity issue serious and manger to overcome all related temptations.

Be blessed.

While I appreciate you taking the time to discuss this subject in depth, it really sounds like you’re coming down a bit harshly on women for some reason, and seem to be ignoring the capacity for God to communicate on an individual level.

I fear there may have been a miscommunication.

Mr. Dube, “wet dreams” for males and/or females is NOT a solution, not for me anyway. If anything it’s a problem. Waking up already aroused (morning wood) is usually followed by masturbation (or intercourse if possible) and is a situation that a lot of unmarried individuals face. For the most part, people don’t have the option or ability to control what they want to dream or think about when they are sleep. I will not accept “getting married and having my own partner” as a solution. This article was not helpful and offered little to no realistic advice/information that most of us didn’t already know.

what this is why people fail especially young guys I am an 18 year old boy and all you have said is don’t do I mean it’s easy to say this things but in reality it’s a whole different ball game that almos everyone fails you have given no practical way of fighting it ….. get married is not an option right now or in the near future…..
I am where I was when I.came here no help just more rules

    • I can relate to your position because I have been young too. You need to pray to God for help because on your own or with your own strength you will fail. Pray for the Holy Spirit to indwell and control you at all times. Whenever you feel tempted sexually, just pray there and there to break the desire and you will find that it falls off and you are free. Sadly, the Christian is called to fight everyday of his or her life. I will pray for you too.
