God’s mercy
Mercy has full meaning if you understand your initial position before mercy was shown for you. You never work to receive mercy but you are given freely. It is important for every believer to know that we are saved today because of God’s grace. The ministry of the Gospel is given to us by God’s grace.
God in heaven offered salvation for everyone that believes in His son Jesus Christ. The Almighty God knew very well that mankind would not afford to pay for salvation even if He had to offer it at a fare. He then chose to give it freely through His son Jesus Christ. Thus the rich and the poor have equal offer of God’s grace.
According to Paul, the full understand that God’s mercy that came with the Ministry of the Gospel is good enough for us, we do not lose heart. This understanding compels for renouncing disgraceful, underhanded ways, and refusing to practice cunning or to tamper with God’s word (Verse 2).
The call to everyone is the same; abandonment of all forms of sin.
