Harsh punishments from God of Christians to His people

The entire Bible is God-breathed to teach, rebuke, correct and train in righteousness (2 Timothy 3:16). If you have taken time to read the Bible, you will know that God puts some commandments that are very demanding to the average human yet they should be observed by all means. Among many things, God can kill, curse, strike with sickness and destroy. This is the same God that saves, loves, heals, blesses and redeems people.

It is not surprising that some skeptics openly reject the God of Christians for that He can punish His own people very harshly. They have searched the scriptures to discover that some of the things God did are very much unlike Him according to what they have been taught and believe a loving God should be. There are websites that are totally dedicated to tarnishing God of Christians because of some specific Bible verses. God’s nature is the same in both the Old and New Covenant. However, the good thing about this belief is that at least such people believe that God implemented and He still will fulfill what He promised for any condition He had set.

God’s promised punishments

I would like to quote exodus 30:12 where God put a condition of paying a ransom for one’s life or else a plague will come on the person that fails to do as required. It is easy to believe that God actually punished those that disobeyed with a plague just as He had promised. In fact, it is correct to believe it. No word comes out of God’s mouth and doesn’t fulfill its purpose (Isaiah 55:11). Many times we offend God and believe we have escaped the promised punishment yet we forget that we live in the time of His abundant grace. We forget that starting with the angels that wanted to take over His authority and their leader the devil could not escape God’s punishment, we can never escape too (Jeremiah 30:11).

Wrath

God’s wrath is undesired for any person. According to John 3:36, the one who reject Jesus has the punishment of God’s wrath living with him or her. Such wrath is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of people who suppress the truth by their unrighteousness (Romans 1:18). It is traumatizing to visualize the wrath of the creator moving along with an individual at all times. When the person is asleep, it is there awaiting him to wake up. This is a punishment that many people hardly realize because they hardly feel its presence. The same verse, John 3:36 gives a solution on how to get rid of God’s wrath over one’s life.

Eternal death

There are countless people that have testified to the reality of hell. Do your own Google search on this and you will know this fact. It is however very important to know that the Bible itself is not silent about the promise of eternal punishment in hell. It is God Himself that sends people to hell. I take this from the words of Jesus when He said that we, the living, should not fear people that can only kill the body but not the soul. Jesus then declares that the only one to be feared is He that can destroy both the body and soul in hell.

Hell is detailed in the Bible in numerous verses. A few of these verses are the following:

Conclusion

I’m letting the Bible speak directly to you and never at all aiming at provoking anyone. I’m not even the messenger in this case but simply presenting a kind reminder of who the God of Christians is. He has detailed it Himself and none of the living or the dead can ever change who He is.
