The required standard of Holiness, Righteousness and Truth is too high but should be met

Open BibleThe truth of the matter is as declared by David that if God were to mark our transgressions, nobody would stand (Psalm 130:3). However, the Lord God is just to judge fairly and that is what makes the standard of holiness, righteousness and truth be a required effort for everyone to make it to Heaven. Many people including those that call themselves Christians say that human effort is not what will make people enter into heaven. I differ because some Holy Bible verses from those that have walked the Christian life confirm that an effort is required. Consider the following verses:

  1. Paul speaking in the book of 2 Corinthians 9:27 (NLT) says, “I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should. Otherwise, I fear that after preaching to others I myself might be disqualified”. This is clear indication that those that preach can be disqualified if they don’t make an effort to please God. If you search the internet for testimonies of those that have had divine revelations about the afterlife, hell in particular, they will tell you that there are many Christians lamenting why they ignored the small sins they committed that landed them in hell.
  2. Instructing those who will follow Christ, Paul in Philippians 2:12 says, “…continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling”. Working out something is not an automatic thing; it is indeed putting an effort into that particular thing. In this case, it is working out one’s salvation.
  3. God Himself gives commandments for man to keep. You will agree with me that the Holy Bible is full of verses that are an instruction to mankind to observe something. Jesus confirmed the same when He said, “…If you want to enter life, keep the commandments” (Matthew 19:17).

There are a lot more commandments to keep and I do agree that one may not be good enough to observe and keep all of them. However, the Holy Spirit of God, the third person of God, keeps reminding us through our conscious and the many ways He speaks to us.

I can confirm to you now that everybody else that sinned from this generation back to the time of creation has been damned to hell for their deeds. All of them have knowledge of at least the sin they know that led them to hell. It is true that there are many sins we commit without knowing which the damned get punished for in hell but if those were the only ones, and I believe that God would have not damned those people to hell.

Many of the damned were not ashamed of their sins like we see many behave the same way even today. Some ignored the call to holiness and righteousness. They thought some of the sins they did were ignorable to God and therefore wouldn’t lead them to hell.

The fact that you succeed doing what you do which is sin does not mean that it is the right thing neither does it mean that God has relaxed His standard just for you. Remember that God shows no favour to anyone (Acts 10:34; Romans 2:11), He respects no man. It does not matter whether you are a pastor, deacon, bishop, prophet or even a highly recognised member of society. I don’t understand why people do not realise this fact. Too many such people lament their evil doing in hell today.

You have to understand that God’s standard is far higher than that of man. If for any reason you believe that nobody will be affected by the sins you do, know that God does get affect. The world may approve of the things you do. You may even be acquitted in a quote of law but the account of sin remains in God’s records, you will have to answer to Him when you die, “Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, (Hebrews 9:27). This is true even for me as I write this article. I will have to answer as to whether I was using this computer legally or I was abusing it when writing this article. I know that I’m guilty of using some employer resources to push this wonderful agenda but God is not pleased at all with that. I have sorted it out with God since I know that it is wrong for me to have done it that way. That is why God says He prefers obedience as opposed to sacrifice (1 Samuel 15:22). Even when I sacrifice my time and energy pushing the Gospel but if I do it without His blessings, that is illegally by breaking some earthly rules set for me, I’m disobeying Him.

God will judge us for sins we did

What god will judge a person for something he was not aware of? The God of Christians is not like that. He has placed many ways by which we can get to know His will and turn from sin. He also whispers His word through several methods.

Shocking truth

I know that many people will dismiss me here but let me say it anyway because it is true. God can judge you even for a sin you have not yet committed but for the intention to do so. This goes to say that God judges our thoughts (Ecclesiastes 12:14). I recommend you read the following article for further information on the hidden things that shall be judged.

Even our thoughts and motivations will be judged

I pray for you to take a closer look at the things you do and your relentless spirit in keeping God’s commandments. Be blessed!
